Our Central Privacy Policy
We do not sell, rent or otherwise provide your personal identifiable information to any third parties for marketing purposes.
In order to provide certain services we may share information with third parties, as when we process payment information with our payment processing provider as described in the following sections.
User Obligations and Responsibilities
Whether a User seeking expert advice or business assistance or an Expert User, providing such assistance to others, you should recognize that you are interacting with others in a public sphere where the information you provide will be shared with others, including individuals which you do not know. It is therefore incumbent on you to exercise reasonable judgment in determining what information you provide and how you choose to interact with others. Because The Expert Knowledge Network is a public space created for use by professionals you should aspire to conduct all your communications in a professional manner. This includes deciding when and how to divulge personal information about yourself and/or how you choose to conduct business with others.
• You are responsible for deciding when, how and what information you provide about yourself. You are interacting in a media environment with the public but your intentions may vary depending on how you choose to promote yourself or connect to others. If you are seeking to establish direct relationships with others for business purposes you should exercise appropriate caution in establishing such relationships. The Expert Knowledge Network is not an appropriate venue for seeking or establishing personal relationships for reasons other than engaging others in business relationships. All communications and actions take place in a public sphere and should never fall below professional standards of conduct.
• Contact information about others should be treated in a professional manner. You must not collect contact information for the purpose of spamming or including other Users in unsolicited email campaigns.
• You must not use The Expert Knowledge Network to abuse, harass, or otherwise violate the EKN User Agreement and Terms of Use or the EKN Privacy Policy.
• You must not download or otherwise disseminate any information that may be deemed to be injurious, violent, offensive, racist or xenophobic, or which may otherwise violate the purpose and spirit of The Expert Knowledge Network community of Users.
• Violation of these practices and standards or any other violation of our Privacy Policy will be considered a violation of the EKN User Agreement and Terms of Service.
Security
We secure your personal information using industry standards and technology. The Internet is not a completely secured environment and therefore we cannot warrant the security of any information you transmit to The Expert Knowledge Network and there is no guarantee that information may not be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed by breach of any of our physical, technical or business safeguards.
Our Standard Information Practices
1. On personal information provided by you: We do not disclose your personal information to others except as necessary to:
a. Third Party Service Providers but only insofar as it is required for the use of essential services that we provide to the User (such as payment processing and other services which you have contracted for through us).
b. We do not provide your personal information to third party service providers involved in marketing or advertising except for some limited, anonymous data provided to online ad networks as described below. No information that can personally identify you is included in this information sharing.
c. As necessary to comply with legal processes, respond to copyright or intellectual property violations, manage our business with you, or protect the rights, property, or personal safety of The Expert Knowledge Network, our employees, Users or the public; as stipulated in the EKN User Agreement and Terms of Use.
2. On information you communicate to others:
a. This information is made available to the public unless you are using a web site feature designed to communicate to a limited number of individuals. Such information is provided only to those you identify through the feature or tool that supports that form of communication (as in an email).
3. On information made available to Cookies
a. For activities not related to third party advertising: When used by us, this information is used to identify you during a session and between sessions. In this case, the information is not passed on to other third party service providers unless they are actively involved in providing services necessary to support the contractual services we provide to you.
b. For online advertising networks: When used by us, no information that could personally identify you is passed on to third party service providers. Information passed to these third party service providers may include group information (e.g. industry segment, professional skills, etc.).
c. For Expert Knowledge Network Ads: When used by us, our own, internal ad serving system will identify you because our database already contains your personal information. We will not pass information about you collected in these processes or transactions to third party ad networks or other third party service providers except to the extent necessary to complete fulfillment or transactions which you request.
Other information Practices
Our service partners that provide hosting and content delivery will have access to certain key information that is naturally a part of the information processing systems of the Internet, including log files, IP addresses, information about your computer and mobile devices, and similar kinds of information. We use this information, along with our service providers, to analyze trends and help improve performance and the overall quality of service. The linkage with and between your IP address and your personally identifiable information is not shared with third parties without your permission, except as described in Section 5.h. of the EKN User Agreement and Terms of Service, covering certain legal issues and legal obligations which may arise as a result of our relationship with you.
Changes to practices that materially affect how we use, manage or share your personal information will be posted as updates to our Privacy Policy.
